ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATIONS

Our advocacy work includes working with key stakeholders including the government and community partners to highlight and advocate on key issues. Some areas we have worked on are health, food security and financial inclusion, and skill-building for vulnerable populations among others. We work with partners and various stakeholders to champion the rights of individuals, communities and society at large through active participation in the political process.

MORE

We provide advocacy support when organizations, or social issues need them. We help to access information needed, organize meetings, facilitate coalitions and plan and conduct advocacy campaigns for sustained change. Our communications work has a strong grounding in social sciences, communities and the creative and visual arts. It is informed by these diverse approaches, and by a strong understanding of development issues. With our creative content and ability to partner with media, our effort is to create culturally sensitive, appropriate and relevant communication materials to our defined target audiences.

LESS

STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

We view strategy as a dynamic envisioning of goals and not as a rigid-exercise bound by frameworks. We believe strategy should be inclusive, and a form of long-term dialogue which should include organizations, people, communities and other stakeholders. An example of this is our work on strategy development in the areas of mental health in partnership with LGBTQIA++ communities and organizations.

MORE

We work with organizations to create strategies through inclusive conversations, perspectives and creating broader flexible frameworks that respond to change in the development ecosystem.

BUILDING COMMUNITIES

Our aim is to build communities that are empowered with information and skills. These can be in diverse ways, from developing social networks and public awareness to bringing together focused community networks where affected communities can collaborate and create their own learning systems. Some of our work on TB, HIV and mental health focuses specifically on building empowered communities to initiate collective action.

MORE

Our work uses multiple approaches from building knowledge communities among those affected by development challenges, addressing information gaps in these communities, to creating public information campaigns on innovative solutions for key issues.

LESS

PARTNERSHIPS

We believe partnerships are critical to systemic sustainable change and progress. We partner with diverse stakeholders to create innovative solutions and build momentum for long-term sustainable change on key issues. Our current work includes partnerships in both the public and private sectors as also civil society around issues of health.

MORE

Our work covers a multiplicity of roles including identifying, facilitating, building and managing partnerships of different kinds and of differing levels of complexity among key stakeholders. We specialise in bringing together ideas and people, products and markets for maximum impact.

LESS

Development

In our view, development is not a singular, universally accepted paradigm. We believe development in its simplest sense should be the ability of all human beings to realise their true potential without fear or obstacles.

We work to create collaborative and effective development programs that are not superimposed but instead evolve and get implemented with participation from its beneficiaries.

MORE

These programs, such as our rights based work on health, seek to address the lack of capabilities, knowledge, financial resources, and opportunity to step out of poverty and deprivation without fear. Our work then is as much a process of providing services as of removing obstacles and giving freedom from all sorts of discrimination, exclusion, insufficient opportunities and fear of identity.

LESS

Health

Health remains one of the most critical issues in human development. Our work in health is based on the belief that everyone has a right to a healthy, and dignified life. We specialize in health advocacy, communications and research, as well as program design. We are guided by the values of equity, solidarity and social justice and are primarily focussed on systemic change, community empowerment, and innovation.

MORE

Our work in health, particularly in infectious diseases (TB and HIV), sexuality, mental health among others, seeks to look beyond just the provision of services but also focuses on transforming environments to impact the social and cultural determinants of health.

LESS

Gender and Sexuality

Gender identity and sexual identity often mediate and impact our ability to live healthy and secure lives. Our work seeks to understand and mitigate the adverse effect of gender and sexuality on all communities and their access to key services such as health, education and other development services.

MORE

Our work currently focuses on the issues of TB, HIV, and mental health from gender and sexual identity. We work with affected communities to create networks and build awareness on and support them to advocate for their health needs.

Our team has previously researched, created and disseminated the first public campaign on TB and Women targeted at the government, the broader public and the media. We also work with members of the LGBTQIA++ community, to understand and document the barriers they face in accessing health care.
